With the 10th anniversary of 9-11 fast approaching, my wife and I felt compelled to do something for our men and women proudly serving in the armed forces. As many of you are aware, I am a veteran of both the US Navy (AX) and of the US Army (35H). Like you I was extremely honored and proud to put on the uniform of my nation. (Still can vividly recall being in the MEPS station almost 29 years ago, raising my right hand and reciting the oath.)

With that, we – Handan and I – would love to honor you. The offer is simple and direct.

For the 11th of Sept, 2011 any active duty servicemember will stay free on us. There are no gimmicks, no sales pitch, no nothing. This is not tied to a minimum night stay or future requirement to return. It is what it is. The offer to spend one night on vacation with Hunters Friend Resort for the 11th of Sept. and we pick up the costs.

If you want to stay additional nights (before and after) you will be responsible for those nights. You are not required to and no one will pressure you to book extra nights. Anyone with an active duty ID will be given a free night until we are sold out. It is a small way of saying “Thank you for your service”

Here are the only conditions we ask. When you call in we will need to assign the rooms on an “as needed” basis. As this will cover everything we have we want to maximize as best as we can the space we have available. If there is a group of you traveling and coming in together, we will try to assign you to one of our condos. If you are by yourself we will try to place you in one of our motel style rooms. Bringing your family with you is also allowed but you must be here in person to take possession of the keys for check in.

There is a one servicemember limit per reservation. Please honor this as we are trying to accomodate as many of our fine military members as we can.

So talk to your buddies, get with your family, put the word out to as many as you can. This is on a first come first serve basis.
