Hunter’s Friend Resort was purchased and established on the 25th of August, 2003. Prior to Hunter’s Friend, the resort was formerly named Coleman’s Resort, owned and operated by Gene and Ginger Cantrell. Michael and Handan are transplants to the Branson area from San Francisco where they have spent the last 7 years working for Metric Test Equipment. Michael worked as a Lab/Operations Manager and Handan worked in the Purchasing Dept. as an Order Management Representative while at Metric Test Equipment. Handan is from Izmir, Turkey, a city of more than 3 million people located on the Aegean Sea on western coast. Prior to Metric, Handan worked for the Pullman, Orion, and Hilton Hotels and has a background in Hotel and Tourism Management. Michael is originally from Sedalia, MO. having last lived there in 1982. Michael’s background includes a degree in Electronic Engineering as well as enlistments with both the US Navy and US Army. He currently owns and operates a second company (VeeCal) that provides automated calibration programs to numerous companies around the United States. Michael and Handan are relieved and overjoyed to be in Branson as it is a welcome change of pace to the rigors of Bay Area living and are excited to be back in the Ozarks.
